Scene 8: The Rainmaker

How Mastergod Maille gathers and strives to guide a few sheep-clouds over the land – quite in the manner that one attempts to drive inappropriate thoughts out of one's mind.

One Day in the Life of Odette Sissay

12.15: Port-Louis, Vieux Port

Odette was in no hurry. Odette was never in a hurry. But when she stepped into a particular place, the world seemed to accelerate in a curious fashion for the others around. She stepped down the Rue de la Mer and turned towards the harbour of the Quai des Voiliers. She walked along at a leisurely pace and it seemed as though she was enjoying her every step. She bought herself a take-away bowl of noodles with fermented tofu from a local eatery named «Schopenhauer» and sat down on a stone bench opposite the aquarium, which was located a few paces away in the direction of the harbour exit. She broke up the chopsticks and began to eat, at once easily and carelessly, as only those who have grown up using chopsticks, do. She stuck out her feet, clad simply in light sandals, into the warm midday sun – on one of her toes glinted a slender silver ring, a gift from Marie.
