San Clemente State Beach

Scene 22: The Beach

How Hektor Maille ended up on the beach of an isolated island and pondered over how he could reach his red wine in his current circumstances – until the island ultimately revealed itself to be a part of the USA, from where he had shortly earlier been air-forked to the Pacific.

One Day in the Life of Odette Sissay

14.00: Port-Louis, Rue de Prague

As Odette turned into the Rue de Prague, at the end of which stood the headquarters of the Deuxième Bureau, there was a sudden downpour of rain, which succeeded within seconds to turn the streets into canals and cars into spray projectiles. Evidently, Tatjana was in the process of testing the machines.

Odette loved the rain – not only because it signified, at that particular moment, that things were going well. She loved the humidity that lay like clothes on her body and the slight heat with which her skin reacted to the dampness. She removed her sandals and walked barefoot into the office of the Secret Service.
