Helios considered the heavens to be a terribly chilly place. On the other hand he found human life to be filled with passion and poetry. The knowledge that they must die, he said, gives humans a wildness and a fragile beauty that we gods in heaven lack. One day, he decided to go down to these people whose warm life he envied – and for that he took on the form of a round, glowing yellow melon.
