Travelling is an opportunity for us to twist the routine functioning of our brain into a somewhat different direction. The foreign entourage has the potential to liberate us from certain matters of course. We ignore a part of our regular routine: we forget ourselves a little, lose ourselves. At its best we get the idea that we are also capable of having another feeling. We do quickly slide back into our regular mode of thinking, of course, but the idea has already succeeded in opening a little window into a new landscape from which a bit of fresh air wafts into our climate.
And at some point the climate becomes such that we can also behave quite differently. Travelling thus leads to freedom.
