Mask are the most important feature of an interesting ritual performed by the international community stationed in the Congo: they are collected and hung in tidy arrangements on the walls of elegant residences and documented with painstaking knowledge about the more-or-less secret, more-or-less magical nexus they stem from – or, rather, the nexus they appear to stem from.
